If you need to travel by car to the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, Norwich Research Park or the University of East Anglia, then you'll find it easier when you leave your car at the dedicated Costessey Park & Ride site, and hop on the bus to your destination.

Operating Monday to Friday throughout the year, buses run on two dedicated routes to & from the car park up to every 15 minutes.

Costessey Park & Ride is situated on Long Lane, just off the A47/A1074 junction, adjacent to the Royal Norfolk Showground.

Prices

A flat fare ticket is available for all journeys on service 510, either single or return:

  • Adults £1
  • Young Person (5-19) 70p - Pay on the bus with contactless or cash

Concession pass holders can use the service for free after 0930 (normal fares apply before this time).

Travel is also free for N&NUH Staff on production of their ID Badge on service 510.

On service 511, UEA Students, staff and visitors all travel free-of-charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Parking

Overnight parking is not permitted at Costessey Park and Ride site. Check the opening times for the site before you travel.

No overnight parking permitted, so vehicles cannot be left on site for consecutive days. However, you’re welcome to use the Park & Ride service on multiple days — as long as you leave the sites before closing each day and return to park again the next day.

Customers may not park without using the Park & Ride service or displaying a valid permit

All our sites are equipped with Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and proudly hold the Park Mark Safer Parking Award. However, whilst all of these provisions are in place, in line with most car parks, parking of any vehicle is entirely at the owner’s risk.

You can still enter the Park & Ride site on foot. Once you’ve retrieved your car, drive up to the barriers slowly and they’ll open automatically to allow you to exit.

Arrive at the Park & Ride site, and park in one of the marked bays. Then hop on one of our frequent buses and buy your travel ticket from the driver or show your ID

No, there’s no need to book. Simply follow the four easy steps: drive to the site, park for free, buy your ticket on the bus, and ride.

No, no registration is required. Simply park up for free, board the P&R service, purchase a ticket from your driver and enjoy your day! 

We only sell return tickets on the 510, valid for one return journey. If you need to make the trip twice, you’ll need to buy another ticket on your second trip.

Stops & Destinations

The 510 drops off and picks up at Stand B, right outside the main entrance to the hospital

The 511 serves the main bus stop on campus, so you won’t miss your stop. If you need assistance on either service, our drivers will be happy to help.

Payment & Tickets

You can buy your ticket to the hospital on the 510 directly from the driver using cash or contactless. Travel on the 511 to the UEA is completely free for all staff, students, and visitors.

Travel to the UEA from Costessey Park & Ride is completely free for all students, staff, and visitors. There’s no need to buy a ticket when boarding, just grab a seat and get comfy.

If you work at the N&N, you can travel free-of-charge. Just show your NHS Staff ID to the driver when boarding

Yes. After 0930, concession pass holders travel free of charge. Before this time, usual fares apply

Vehicle & Site Restrictions

Vehicles exceeding 7.5 tonnes, trailers and touring caravans are not permitted to park within the site.

Accessibility

Yes, each bus has one dedicated wheelchair space, and room for pushchairs and buggies to be folded.
