Norfolk & Suffolk Service Changes - 30th August

From Sunday 30th August

The Norwich to Attleborough section of service 13 is replaced by an extension of service 14 beyond Wymondham to Attleborough, running to a revised route and timetable serving Hethersett and Wymondham. A service will continue to be provided every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday and every hour in the evenings and on Sundays. Service X13 is renumbered as X14.

The Norwich to Spixworth section is replaced by an extension of our Orange Line service which runs between the NNUH hospital, Bowthorpe, West Earlham, the City Centre and Old Catton. Journeys extending to Spixworth will be numbered as service 20. The section of Constitution Hill between the outer ring road and Sprowston Road will no longer be served by First Bus, with alternatives provided by Sanders services 55B and X55.

From Sunday 30th August

Route 14 extends beyond Wymondham to Attleborough, in place of route 13. Within Wymondham, the 14 will take a more direct route via Norwich Road, with the section of route via Hewitts Lane / Tuttles Lane East instead covered by changes to routes 15 and 16. The route through Hethersett, and to Norwich and Dussindale remains unchanged. 

A number of more direct route X14 journeys will run at peak times on Monday to Friday, in place of the existing X13

Routes 15 and 16 will no longer serve Harts Farm and within Wymondham will run via Folly Road / Hewitts Lane / Tuttles Lane East in place of route 14, creating new connections from these areas to Wymondham Station.  

To the east of Norwich, route 17 to Broadland Gate is replaced by changes to routes 15 & 16, which will be rerouted to serve the Broadland Gate development – Poppy Way and Maple Way will be served all day, with Broadland Business Park additionally served at peak times on weekdays. 

The existing service level and times between the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, Bowthorpe, West Earlham, City Centre and Catton Grove Road remain as now. 

Journeys which extend beyond Old Catton to Spixworth on Monday to Saturday are renumbered as service 20. 

Two buses per hour divert as route 20 via Mile Cross Lane, North Walsham Rd and White Woman Lane to Old Catton, extending to Spixworth in place of route 13. 

Two buses per hour remain on St Faiths Road, running via Fiddlewood on all journeys, as route 21.

The Sunday 21 is also extended to Spixworth, as well as the 20, increasing the frequency to every 30 minutes on this section. The service to Spixworth will also run later into the evening on Monday to Saturday than at present. 

From Sunday 30th August

Departure times are revised, with more time allowed for buses to complete their journeys within the Norwich urban area.

Four buses per hour continue to be provided by routes 28 and X29 during the daytime on Monday to Saturday. 

Route 29 will run to a revised timetable, up to every 90 minutes, between approximately 0800 and 1600.

From Sunday 30th August

Route 37 from Hellesdon will be revised to terminate in Norwich City Centre. The section of route south of Norwich to Mulbarton will instead be provided by route 38, which will extend from Hall Road to Mulbarton. 

Route 38 will extend beyond Hall Road, to Mulbarton and services will continue every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday to Mulbarton. Services will operate via Woodcock Road and Weston Road, with alternate journeys running as route 38A, providing a new link to both Norwich Airport and the Aviation Academy, via Fifers Lane, then via the new Norwich Airport Link Road.  

Route 38 and 38A will provide hourly services from Ives Road, an hourly service from Norwich Airport, and a combined half hourly service from Vulcan Road.

Route 36A will be extended to cover a greater area of Harleston, incorporating Mendham Lane and Spirkett’s Lane into the inbound route. 

A new journey departing Long Stratton around 6am will be included in the revised timetable, extending through to Horsford. 

Route 36 and 36A – the evening service between Norwich City Centre, Long Stratton and Harleston will be provided by Central Connect, instead of First Bus. The daytime route 36 and 36A timetable is unchanged and will continue to be provided by First Bus 

From Sunday 30th August

On Monday to Saturday, the service will run up to every 20 minutes between Norwich and Poringland (40, 40A, 41), and hourly to Bungay and Halesworth (41).

Additional directional journeys between Bungay and Norwich will run at the busier peak times on Monday to Friday (41, 41A, X41).

The Sunday service is unchanged.

From Sunday 30th August

Service 3 will run between Great Yarmouth, Barrack Estate, Gorleston and Bradwell, every 30 minutes, with additional route 2 journeys running up to every 30 minutes between Great Yarmouth and Barrack Estate, providing a bus up to every 15 minutes between Market Gates and Barrack Estate for most of the day. 

Some route 2 journeys will extend via the Herring Bridge, Gorleston and Bradwell to serve Burgh Castle.
