From Sunday 14th April, we are making improvements to bus services in South Essex. The 21A bus route, serving Carlton Avenue in Westcliff, will be restored starting Monday 15th April 2024.
Essex Bus 21 / 21A
Revised timetable with some journeys to operate via Carlton Avenue in Westcliff. These journeys will be numbered as route 21A and will provide a bus every hour during the middle of the day on Monday to Friday and Saturdays.
There are no changes to the Sunday timetable. The diversion of route 21 is supported by HM Government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan funding, working in partnership with Southend-on-Sea City Council.

Services 200-201 | King Street, Stanford-le-Hope | Road closure
A section of King Street, Stanford-le-Hope will be closed for roadworks on Monday 29th April 2024 (between the hours of 10:00 and 17:00 hours).
Due to the location of the road closure the 200-201 services, travelling towards Basildon, will divert via Victoria Road.
The following bus stop will not be served: The New Courthouse

Service 31-331-332 | Mundon Road, Maldon | Road closure
Mundon Road, Maldon will be closed for roadworks from Friday 26th April to Tuesday 30th April 2024.
Due to the location of the road closure, the 31-331-332 service will divert, in both directions, via Limebrook Way (331 service), Fambridge Road and Burnham Road.
The following bus stops will not be served (in both directions):
- Park Drive
- South House Chase
- The Cottages
- Stud Farm
- Victory Hall
- Coal Yard

Service 13A/14 | Downham Road, Ramsden Heath | Road closure
Downham Road, Ramsden Heath will be closed for roadworks on Thursday 25th April 2024 to Monday 29th April 2024.
Due to the location of the road closure the 13A and 14 services will divert, in both directions, via Crowsheath Lane.
The following bus stops will not be served (in both directions):
- north-bound/south-bound Dowsetts Lane
- o/s The White Horse
- adj/opp Dovedale Close
- adj/opp Oak Road
- adj/opp Crowsheath Lane

ALL Colchester services | St John's St, Colchester | Road closure
A section of St John's St, Colchester will be closed for roadworks from Wednesday 1st May to to Friday 3rd May 2024.
Due to the location of the road closure all Colchester services will likely experience small delays.
The following services will be placed on diversion:

Saint Ives Road, Peldon will be closed for roadworks from Monday 29th April to Wednesday 1st May 2024.
Due to the location of the road closure, the 68 service will divert (in both directions) via Church Road and Lower Road.

Service S8 | Queen Elizabeth Way, Colchester | Road closure
Queen Elizabeth Way, Colchester will be closed for roadworks from Tuesday 23rd April to Wednesday 1st May 2024 - between 09:30 and 15:00 daily.
Whilst the road is closed, the S8 service will divert, in both directions, via the B1025 (Mersea Road/Blackheath),
The following bus stops will not be served (in both directions):

- The Silver Oyster
- Bardfield Road

Service S6 | High Road, Layer-de-La-Haye, Colchester | Road closure
High Road, Layer-de-La-Haye, Colchester is closed for roadworks from Thursday 25th April to Monday 13th May 2024 (between 20:00 and 05:00 hours).
Due to the location of the road closure the S6 service will not operate, last journey of the day, to Layer-de-La-Haye. Instead, the S6 service will terminate at Hazell Avenue, Shrub End bus stop. The service will be paused and resume at the next scheduled departure time towards Colchester City Centre.

Service S3 | Bergholt Road, Colchester | Road closure
A section of Bergholt Road, Colchester will be closed to traffic overnight, from 21:00 to 05:00 hours, on Monday 29th April to Tuesday 30th April 2024 .
Unfortunately, due to the location of the road closure, the S3 service will be unable to serve West Bergholt. The S3 service will terminate at Railway Station (Stand B). The service will be paused and resume at the next scheduled departure time towards Colchester City Centre.

Bruff Close, Colchester will be closed for roadworks from Tuesday 7th May to Saturday 11th May 2024 (between 19:00 and 05:00 on a daily basis).
Due to the location of the road closure, the S1-S2-11-68-81A services will be unable to serve Bruff Close bus stop (in both directions).

A section of Station Road, Colne Engaine will be closed for roadworks from Saturday 11th May to Monday 13th May 2024.
Due to the location of the road closure, the 82-82A-82B services will not be able to serve Church Street and will turn around In De Vere Road. The 82-82A-82B services will terminate at Atlas Road bus stop, wait time, and recommence journey at scheduled time back to Colchester.
