Queen Elizabeth Way, Colchester will be closed for roadworks from Tuesday 23rd April to Wednesday 1st May 2024 - between 09:30 and 15:00 daily.

Whilst the road is closed, the S8 service will divert, in both directions, via the B1025 (Mersea Road/Blackheath),

High Road, Layer-de-La-Haye, Colchester is closed for roadworks from Thursday 25th April to Monday 13th May 2024 (between 20:00 and 05:00 hours).

Due to the location of the road closure the S6 service will not operate, last journey of the day, to Layer-de-La-Haye. Instead, the S6 service will terminate at Hazell Avenue, Shrub End bus stop. The service will be paused and resume at the next scheduled departure time towards Colchester City Centre.

The following bus stops will not be served (in both directions):

A section of Bergholt Road, Colchester will be closed to traffic overnight, from 21:00 to 05:00 hours, on Monday 29th April to Tuesday 30th April 2024 .

Unfortunately, due to the location of the road closure, the S3 service will be unable to serve West Bergholt. The S3 service will terminate at Railway Station (Stand B). The service will be paused and resume at the next scheduled departure time towards Colchester City Centre.

Manners Way, Southend-on-Sea will be closed for roadworks from Monday 29th April to Friday 3rd May 2024 (between 09:30 and 14:30hrs daily).

For the duration of the road closure, the X30 service will be placed on the following diversion:

- towards Southend Travel Centre - the X30 service will divert via Rochford Road and the A127 before returning to normal line of route. All bus stops will be served as normal.

- towards Stansted Airport -  Please note. the X30 will serve Blue Boar bus stop before diverting. The X30 service will divert via Fairfax Drive, Prittlewell Chase, Hobleythick Lane and Rochford Road before returning to normal line of route on Eastwoodbury Crescent. The following bus stop will not be served: adj Earls Hall Avenue.

Pavement repairs are scheduled to be undertaken in and around North Station (Stand F) bus stop from Wednesday 24th April to Friday 26th April 2024.

The repairs may require North Station (Stand F) bus stop to be temporarily closed.

If a closure is enforced a temporary bus stop will be placed on North Station Road (opposite The Magnet Pub).

The Colchester Stampede 10K takes place on Sunday 28th April 2024 (between 08:30 and 11:00am). The event will start within Colchester Zoo and head out onto surrounding local roads - these roads will be temporarily closed to traffic whilst event takes place. 

Please note. road closures may re-open earlier depending on how quickly the runners complete sections of the race.

Due to the location of the event, the 75 service will divert, in both directions, via Straight Road, London Road, Essex Yeomanry Way, A12, London Road (B1024) and Inworth Road/Kelvedon Road (B1023).

Reason for amendment: Unable to access Navigation Road - diversions revised.

A section of Springfield Road, Chelmsford will be closed to traffic from Tuesday 2nd April to Wednesday 26th June 2024 - Essex Highways is widening the junction. This is a partial road closure - north-bound direction only, between roundabout (for Tesco/Bond Street) and Navigation Road. Due to the location of the roadworks there will likely be delays to all traffic in and around the area.

The following bus services will be placed on diversion:

C8 & C11

towards Chelmsford Bus Station - normal line of route

towards Beaulieu Park - Services C8 & C11 will divert via Parkway, Army & Navy Roundabout, Chelmer Road and Sandford Road before returning to normal line of route on Springfield Road. Town Centre Tesco Store and Boswells Drive bus stop will not be served. The closest alternate bus stop, nearest Tesco, will be Chelmsford Prison.

towards Chelmsford Bus Station - Service 47 will divert via Byron Road, Sandford Road and Springfield Road before returning to normal line of route on Victoria Road. The following bus stops will not be served: Brockley Road, Wharf Road, Town Centre Tesco Store and Boswells Drive. The closest alternate bus stops, nearest Tesco, will be on Victoria Road (Riverside Inn/Riverside Ice and Leisure).

towards Broomfield Hospital - will not serve Town Centre Tesco Store bus stop. The closest alternate bus stop, nearest Tesco, will be Boswells Drive.

towards Maldon - Service 73 will divert via Parkway, Army & Navy Roundabout, Chelmer Road and Sandford Road before returning to normal line of route on Springfield Road. Reason for amendment: the dates for the roadworks have been changed - no longer taking place Monday 8th April - Monday 6th May 2024.

A section of road on The Cross, Wivenhoe will be closed from Monday 22nd April - Monday 20th May 2024.

Due to the location of the road closure the S1, 74B and 87 services will be placed on diversion:

The S1 service will divert, in both directions, via Rectory Road and Belle Vue Road. The following bus stops will not be served: Wivenhoe Cross, Rosabelle Avenue and Co-op.

The 74B service will divert, in both directions, via Rectory Road. The following bus stops will not be served: Wivenhoe Cross, Rosabelle Avenue, Co-op and Cemetery.

The 87 service will divert, in both directions, via Rectory Road*. The following bus stops will not be served: Wivenhoe Cross, Rosabelle Avenue and Co-op.

South Essex

From Sunday 14th April, we are making improvements to bus services in South Essex. The 21A bus route, serving Carlton Avenue in Westcliff, will be restored starting Monday 15th April 2024.

Essex Bus 21 / 21A

Revised timetable with some journeys to operate via Carlton Avenue in Westcliff. These journeys will be numbered as route 21A and will provide a bus every hour during the middle of the day on Monday to Friday and Saturdays.

There are no changes to the Sunday timetable. The diversion of route 21 is supported by HM Government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan funding, working in partnership with Southend-on-Sea City Council.
