First Bus is introducing extra buses on the Park and Ride network, which it operates in partnership with City of York Council, to support the York local and visitor economy in the lead up to Christmas.

The additional services will begin from Sunday 10 November and run until Tuesday 24 December

This investment in vehicles and drivers will increase frequency on key routes connecting York’s retail and leisure destinations and the city centre.

First Bus and West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) have completed a further £11.2m investment in the operator’s Bramley depot which makes half the fleet zero emission.

The last of an additional 22 double-decker electric buses (EV) have now entered service, increasing the total at the depot to 79. This further investment builds on a transformation of the depot with power charging infrastructure and EVs unveiled earlier this year.

Following the full electrification of its commercial bus fleet in April, this week First Bus’ Roundtree Way depot in Norwich, has been announced as one of the UK’s first independently verified net zero-emission bus depots.

Roundtree Way has built on the progress of its fully electric commercial bus fleet, by investing in the necessary additional carbon reduction requirements to claim net zero status.

The net-zero claim was reviewed and verified by leading environmental consultancy, Carbon Footprint Ltd.

First Bus East of England is pleased to announce the return of the Night Bus service, an initiative designed to enhance student safety and strengthen community wellbeing. The service will return on 30 September, thanks to a collaborative effort between the University of East Anglia (UEA), the University of East Anglia Students' Union (UEA SU), First Bus, and Norfolk County Council, demonstrating a shared commitment to the welfare of students and local residents.

This new contract, set to begin in early 2025, will run for up to eight years, demonstrating Norfolk County Council’s long-term commitment to sustainable and accessible transport in the region.

As part of a separate agreement, we will also be introducing our Pink Line services into the Sprowston site, offering an enhanced frequency for these users.
