First Bus plans later buses in Glasgow to help Scotland fans get home after final whistle
First Bus in Glasgow has confirmed that an additional journey will operate on four of its NightBus services to help fans get home from watching Scotland’s opening game in the World Cup in pubs and bars across the city.
Scotland’s first match against Haiti in Boston on Sunday 14 June kicks-off at 2:00am UK time.
Pubs and bars are being allowed to stay open up to 30 minutes after a game finishes.
First Bus services operating later for the opening match are the N2, N18, N240 and N267. Timetables and further details can be found on the website https://www.firstbus.co.uk/greater-glasgow/plan-journey/scotland-world-cup
The operator says the NightBus will run its usual timetable to support Scotland’s other two group games both starting at 11:00pm (Morocco Friday 19 June, also in Boston) and Brazil (Wednesday 24 June in Miami).
First Bus is also reminding customers its 77 service connecting the city centre to districts around Charing Cross, Partick and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital continues to run 24 hours a day.
Max Cairns, Network Planning Manager for First Bus in Scotland, said: “"We’re as excited as all Scottish fans about our group games in the World Cup.
“Taking the bus is the easiest way to get into the city. And by extending these services into the early hours, we’re playing our part in helping to make sure fans can experience the excitement and drama, knowing they’ll be able to get home safely after the final whistle.”
