First Bus North & West Yorkshire is in line for four national awards.

The bus operator has been named a finalist in three categories of the National Transport Awards (NTA) and shortlisted by leading industry publication, routeone.

Achievements in the past 12 months including its York depot verified one of the first net zero emission bus depots in the country, transformation of its Bramley depot in Leeds and the introduction of the biggest all-electric fleet in West Yorkshire, a recording-breaking year for customer growth in York and the launch of the first 24-hour bus services in the region have led to the awards shortlisting.

In the NTA, it is a finalist for Bus Operator of the Year, Best Bus Service and Exemplary Contribution to Net Zero. The routeone category is for the Sustainability Award, with ceremonies taking place in October and November.

Andy Cullen, Managing Director of First Bus North & West Yorkshire, said: “This is recognition of the tremendous effort and success across our teams, especially engineering, operations and commercial over the past 12 months.

“The benefits these are bringing to communities in reducing carbon emissions, creating cleaner air quality and connecting people to work and leisure will continue to be enjoyed for years to come.”
