Children spending Christmas in hospital in Leeds will receive a surprise gift this year, thanks to a donation and support from First Bus.

The bus operator teamed up with Leeds Hospitals Charity, which raises funds to support patients at all sites across the city, to donate £5,000 of presents which will be given out on wards caring for children over the festive period.

Santa sacks will be bulging with some 750 gifts, ranging from arts and crafts, fun play, science learning, painting, health and beauty sets, digital tech and toy vehicles.

Kevin McKenna, Corporate Partnerships Officer at Leeds Hospitals Charity said: “We’re incredibly grateful to First Bus for their generous donation of toys for Leeds Children’s Hospital.

“This time of year can be especially difficult for young patients and their families, many of whom will spend the festive period in hospital. These gifts will bring smiles to so many faces and help spread a little festive joy across the wards.”

Mubs Mahmed, Community and Social Value Partner at First Bus and Engineering Director, Mick Forbes helped with the huge delivery to the team at LGI.

Mubs said: “We are proud to continue supporting the incredible work this charity does. This year, we were able to go even bigger with our present list, which felt truly amazing to be part of.”
