Frequently asked questions for our Glasgow Superhub.
What is First Charge’s opening hours?
The opening hours for the Glasgow Charging Superhub is Monday to Friday at 09:00 to 16:30, including bank holidays. We are looking to expand these opening times in the future so be sure to look out for updates.
What is the price of charge per kWh?
£0.39 per kWh .
How many chargers available?
There are 17 units with two outlets on each, providing you with 34 ultra rapid chargers with speeds of up to 150kW.
How do I enter the site?
The entrance is the Charging Superhub is located at the South Gate (opposite Costa Coffee) of 100 Cathcart Road, G42 7BH. One of our charging hosts will welcome you at the gatehouse and direct you on where to go, as well as assist with setting up your charging if required.
What chargers are available?
Our leads are CCS Type 2, and as such they support most electric vehicles. You can use any of the chargers on site. Each unit has two cables, and as such, two vehicles can charge from one unit at any one time.
The large majority of our chargers operate at speeds of 150kW, however a selected few operate at 125kW. Please ask a member of the team to direct you to a 150kW charger if you require this.
Please also note that the maximum speed of charge is defined by your vehicle, therefore your speed may be capped at the amount set by the vehicle manufacturer despite our chargers being able to deliver faster speeds.
Is there a size restriction on the vehicles that I can bring in to charge?
All cars and vans with CCS Type 2 compatibility are welcome within our consumer hub. We also offer EV charging for third-party electric buses and HGV’s as part of our business – business agreement, so if you have larger vehicles and are interested in our charging facilities please get in touch at - scotland-evcharging@firstbus.co.uk
Am I able to pre-book a charging session?
This feature is in the pipeline and coming soon, however for the time being booking in advance is not available - However, with 34 charging points you are spoilt for choice and availability, removing the need for you to prebook. You can also see the number of chargers available on the Fuuse App before your arrival.
Is there a subscription or membership required?
No, any member of the public with an electric vehicle is welcome. No sign up or membership commitments are required at any point.
Is the site accessible?
Yes, our site meets accessibility standards. We also have our friendly on-site hosts who can help with any necessary extra assistance.
What is the maximum stay time and are there fees for going beyond these?
The maximum time on site is two hours, any time beyond this an overstay fee of £25 per hour will be charged. Please be mindful that site closes at 4.30pm and all charging sessions must be completed prior to this time to avoid overstaying and parking fees.
How do the chargers work?
Simply plug the cable into your vehicle and follow the instructions on screen. Our onsite hosts are always available to provide assistance should you require this.
As a reference, the charging units will always display one of three colours. Blue means available for use. Green means a charger is in use. Red denotes that the charger is defected.
How can I pay for the use of charging?
Our charging terminals accept three methods. In app payments using the Fuuse app, card payments (including Apple Pay & Google Pay) at terminals located inside the machine, as well as the acceptance of all major roaming cards. Currently Paua and Allstar payments are accepted. Electroverse and OVO will be accepted very soon.
For the most convenience and best experience, we recommend using the Fuuse app. This is available to download on the App Store {Fuuse on the App Store} or Google Play {Fuuse - EV Driver App – Apps on Google Play.} Our on-site hosts can also help you explain and set up the app if needs be.
Are there any safety protocols to follow while charging?
Safety is our number one priority and please remain mindful that you are located within a working bus depot. We kindly request that you always follow the on-site signage regarding safety instructions and any requests from our on-site hosts.
Are there any amenities on site?
Unfortunately, we do not have any on-site facilities for public use. However, we are opposite Crown Street Retail Park which offer amenities, (Costa Coffee & Greggs) and leisure facilities.
Can I leave the site whilst my vehicle charges?
You are more than welcome to leave the site during charging and make use of the facilities and shops nearby – providing you return within the two-hour time frame. There is a pedestrian gate within the charging area where you can exit and return the site at your own will.
Please note that smoking or vaping of any kind is prohibited on site, you will need to exit the site in order to do this.
What should I do if I encounter any issues with the chargers when on-site
Our friendly team of on-site hosts will always be on hand to provide assistance and resolve any issues to the best of their ability. Please notify one of the attending hosts should you encounter any issues.
What should I do if I notice any exposed wires or defects to the chargers?
Whilst daily checks and maintenance are carried out to minimise instances of this. Should you notice this occurring, please notify one of the attending hosts immediately.
How do I end my session and remove the connector?
To end the session, press the stop button on the screen or the Fuuse App. You may be required to present your payment card to the reader in order to confirm the end of your session. You can then simply unplug your vehicle. Please be considerate and ensure your cable is returned to the holder and not left trailing before leaving the site. Please inform one of our on-site hosts if you come across any difficulties unplugging your vehicle. Please only use the emergency button in case of emergency – This should not be pressed to stop your charging session.
Can I get a receipt for my charge session?
We are unable to provide tangible receipts for your charging session. The recommended and most efficient way to receive a receipt for your charge session is to pay within the Fuuse App, and you will receive this instantly. Failing this, you can instead contact us on scotland-evcharging@firstbus.co.uk with your details and a member of the team will be able to send a digital copy over.
How can I provide feedback or raise a complaint?
Feedback is very valuable to us, whether positive or critical. We wish that all customers have an enjoyable and smooth experience, and we apologise in advance should you wish to complain. Our on-site hosts are the best first port of call and they will try their best to resolve any issues in the moment. Failing that, please get in touch with us at scotland-evcharging@firstbus.co.uk and a member of the EV team will respond as soon as possible.
What if I am overcharged?
Your card will take a £30 holding fee in order to initiate charging, this will be refunded within a few days, and you will only be charged for the amount used.
If there are still discrepancies, please get in touch at scotland-evcharging@firstbus.co.uk and we will respond as soon as possible to support.
Glasgow Superhub Site Rules
- All vehicles must follow the directions given by the First Charge host.
- All vehicles must follow the 10mph speed limit when driving within the depot.
- All vehicles must reverse park into parking bays.
- All pedestrians must use designated walkways and whilst walking in the depot yard. Customers can leave their car while charging and exit and then enter via the pedestrian gate.
- Customers must not walk beyond the white segregation barriers.
- If using a mobile phone, please stand stationary next to your vehicle or stay inside your vehicle.
- Please note that smoking or vaping of any kind is prohibited on site, you will need to exit the site in order to do this. Customers can leave via the pedestrian gate and can smoke/vape on Cathcart Road (opposite Costa Coffee).
