From Sunday 30th August 2026, we are updating services across the West of England. These changes are designed to improve punctuality and create a more reliable network for our customers.
In Bristol, there will be changes to many routes within the City Centre due to development works in Broadmead closing some roads. Please check details of the new bus stops for your service below. There will also be a change to route 8 at Temple Meads Station.
For a number of services, the timetable & route will not change - please refer to the unaffected routes drop-down list in each area for these services.
Bath and Somerset (Wells area)
Revised Timetable: The timetable is amended to reflect wider network changes, with term time only journeys withdrawn due to low demand. There are no changes to the main service 5.
Revised Route: No change to the timetable. In Bristol City Centre, due to development work including the temporary closure of Union Street, buses into Bristol will operate a different route, running between Temple Meads Station (bus stop T4 instead of T2) and Bristol Bus Station via Redcliffe Way, The Grove and through The Centre. Buses towards Bath will continue to operate as before via Wine Street, Bristol Bridge and Victoria Street, maintaining common bus stops with routes 2/2a for passengers travelling to the Wells Road, but there will be a new stop added on Fairfax Street.
Service Withdrawal: This service will be withdrawn due to low passenger usage. We'll still be running the 171, 172, 173, 174 and 522 between Bath and Peasedown, and there's no changes to route 4 to & from Odd Down.

On afternoon journeys from Oldfield School, the first stop will be Cherry Gardens – buses will not stop to drop anyone off before this. Customers wanting stops in between should use route 19 that departs at the same time.

Journeys re-numbered: Part-route journeys between the University of Bath and Oldfield Park currently numbered U1N, will now run instead as route number U3.

New service introduction! This will be a new service operating between the University of Bath and London Road, via Cleveland Bridge. This service will operate on weekdays during term time, and is designed around lecture times at the University.

Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset
Revised Timetable: This service will return to its usual winter arrangements with the Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday frequency decreased from every 30 minutes to every 60 minutes and the Sunday service finishing after the half term. The last Sunday of operation will be 1st November 2026.
Revised Route: Towards Worle, after serving Sand Bay terminus, buses will now run all the way back down Beach Road to Kewstoke, then via Lower Norton Lane, instead of using Sand Road. Towards Kewstoke, after the Anson Road stop, buses will stay on Lower Norton Lane into Kewstoke, then go to Sand Bay terminus via Beach Road, turn around at the terminus and come back down into Kewstoke, then go to Kewstoke Toll Gate - instead of using Sand Road. Revised timetable.

Service Withdrawal: These services will be withdrawn, replaced between Weston-super-Mare and Sandford/Winscombe by the 126 and recently extended U2. The 126 will now run via Locking Village as a replacement for the 125. In Wrington, alternative buses will be available on the extended North Somerset Council tendered service route X10.
Revised Route & Timetable: There will be an amended timetable to improve punctuality and reliability. The route will now run via Locking village in both directions, replacing the 125.
Due to a major road closure, buses will divert between Cheddar and Wells via Wedmore for six weeks from 30th August, and therefore will be unable to serve Draycott, Rodney Stoke, Westbury and Easton. A revised timetable will also operate during this diversion. More information will be available soon.

Buses towards Broomhill will operate between Nelson Street and Wine Street via Fairfax Street, instead of The Horsefair and Broad Weir. Revised Route: At Temple Meads, from 8th September, we’ll be running a revised route to incorporate the new Eastern Entrance of Temple Meads Station, adjacent to the new University of Bristol Temple Quarter campus and with closer access to the Platform 13/15 end of the station. Buses to Temple Meads will stop at stop T1 on the main road, then run via Cattle Market Road to the new bus stop (T10). Buses towards Clifton will run via Avon Street to Old Market Roundabout. The current stop on the Temple Meads station approach (T5) will no longer be served. Routes 70 and 72 will continue to serve the station approach from stop T6.
From 30th August, the route in the City Centre will also be amended due to the closure of The Horsefair and Penn Street – buses towards Temple Meads Station will operate directly from Wine Street to Lower Castle Street via Newgate and Broad Weir.
The service will operate at an increased frequency and overnight journeys will operate on Monday – Saturdays.

At Avon Street, buses will resume normal route via Avon Street in both directions following completion of the long term road closure. Additionally, buses towards Whitchurch will now be able to run the full length of Avon Street and turn right onto Temple Way to Old Market Roundabout, and won’t need to dog-leg via Old Market Street.

Buses will operate after Bristol Bridge via Baldwin Street (serving the bus stop (R10) at the junction with the High Street), Marsh Street and Broad Quay to The Centre.
There will be no change to the route of buses heading for Temple Meads Station.

Revised Route: The route will be amended to operate between Clifton Down Station and Clifton Triangle directly via Whiteladies Road, instead of via Clifton Village. Additionally, all journeys that terminate at Muller Road Top will be extended via Filton Avenue, Lockleaze Road and Constable Road to terminate at Gainsborough Square in Lockleaze.
Timetable changes: There will be a revised timetable throughout the route. The overnight service will be withdrawn due to low usage, but services 75 and 76 will continue to link the City Centre and Gloucester Road 24/7, and route 8 will have a new overnight service between Temple Meads, the City Centre and Clifton on Monday - Saturdays.

The road closure is only in one direction, so the morning journey will not be affected.
This diversion is expected to finish at the end of the Christmas term.

Buses leaving Bristol towards Yate will continue to start from bus stop C11 as before.
