Update 17.00 - Due to a gas leak, much of Bristol City Centre has been closed off and our services are suffering severe delays and diversions.

This includes Bristol Bus Station, which has been closed. Many buses have been trapped in road closures; this is causing significant gaps in service.

Diversions for each service are in the process of being added below. Please check back if your route is not yet shown.

Information on diversions may refer to the alphanumeric bus stop codes - their locations are shown on the City Centre bus stop map below:

Routes 3 and 4 from Cribbs Causeway are terminating at Clifton Triangle, and not continuing into Bristol City Centre. Buses back towards Cribbs Causeway are starting from Clifton Triangle, then running normal route. Buses are not serving Union Street, The Centre, College Green or Park Street Top stops - please go to Clifton Triangle (Triangle West bus stop U3), to catch your bus.

Routes 6 and 7 into the City Centre are running normal route as far as Bond Street, then terminating. Buses leaving the City Centre, towards Kingswood or Staple Hill, are turning around at Bond Street then diverting to Old Market, and resuming normal route from Old Market Street. Please go to Old Market Street bus stop M3 to catch your bus.

Route 8 is only running between Clifton and Clifton Triangle. Service Suspended between Clifton Triangle, the City Centre and Temple Meads Station.

Route 24 towards Southmead Hospital is able to follow its normal route and stops. The 24 towards Ashton Vale is running normal route as far as Old Market Street, then diverting via Broad Weir, Newgate, Wine Street, Baldwin Street and Marsh Street to Prince Street, resuming normal route from there and additionally serving the Queen Square bus stop (Q1) on Prince Street. Bus stops at Cabot Circus South, The Haymarket and The Centre are not being served - please use the Old Market Street (M4), Queen Square (Q1) or Redcliff Hill (R1) stops to catch your bus. 

Route 42 coming into the City Centre will terminate at Old Market Street and not continue into the City Centre. Buses leaving the City Centre will start from Old Market Street, then run normal route. PLEASE NOTE: buses may leave Old Market Street early, as there is no space to wait for the correct departure time here. Buses will wait at Lamb Street stop (the next bus stop along) for their correct departure time. The Centre, Nelson Street, The Horsefair and Penn Street stops are not being served - please go to Old Market Street bus stop M3 to catch your bus. 

Routes 43 and 45 are running directly between Old Market Street and Temple Mead Station bus stops via Temple Way in both directions, missing out the stops at Redcliffe Way, The Centre, Nelson Street, Rupert Street, Bond Street, The Horsefair, Penn Street and Cabot Circus South. Please go to the bus stops at Old Market Street (M3/M4) or Temple Meads Station (T1/T2) to catch your bus. Towards North Common on the 43 and Cherry Gardens on the 45, buses will stop at bus stop T2 on Temple Gate, instead of the usual bus stop T4 on Redcliffe Way. Please note: some buses on the 45 may additionally serve Bond Street in order to change drivers.

Route 44 into the City Centre are running normal route as far as Bond Street, then terminating. Buses leaving the City Centre, towards Kingswood or Staple Hill, are turning around at Bond Street then diverting to Old Market, and resuming normal route from Old Market Street. Please go to Old Market Street bus stop M3 to catch your bus.

Routes 48/48x/49/49x coming into the City Centre are running as far as Bond Street, then terminating. Buses leaving the City Centre towards Downend/Emersons Green/Staple Hill are starting from Bond Street, Cabot Circus bus stop, from where the 48x and 49x will go straight onto the M32 to resume normal route, and the 48/49 will divert to Old Market to resume normal route from there. The Centre, Baldwin Street, Wine Street, Broad Weir and Cabot Circus South (48x/49x) are not being served. Please go to Cabot Circus bus stop S1 on Bond Street to catch your bus, or alternatively for the 48 or 49 (non-X), Old Market Street bus stop M3.

Route 72 from UWE Frenchay is only running as far as Clifton Triangle. Buses are not serving the City Centre or Temple Meads Station. Buses back towards UWE Frenchay are starting from Clifton Triangle - please go to Triangle West bus stop U3 to catch your bus.

Routes 74/75/76 towards Bradley Stoke, Cribbs Causeway or Henbury are running normal route as far as Redcliff Hill, then diverting via Redcliffe Way, Temple Way and Bond Street to Stokes Croft, then resuming normal route. Stops at The Centre, Christmas Steps and The Haymarket are not being served. Please go to the stops at Redcliff Hill (R2) or Stokes Croft (N1) to catch your bus.

Routes 74/75/76 towards Hengrove are running normal route as far as Stokes Croft, then diverting via Bond Street, Newfoundland Way Gyratory, Temple Way, Temple Gate, round Bath Bridges Roundabout back past the front of Temple Meads Station, then Redcliffe Way onto Redcliff Hill, to resume normal route. Bus stops at The Haymarket, Rupert Street and The Centre are not being served. Please go to the stops at Stokes Croft (N2) or Redcliff Hill (R3) to catch your bus.

Airport Flyer service A1 from Bristol Airport is terminating at the Queen Square bus stop on Prince Street, and not continuing to The Centre or Bristol Bus Station. Buses towards Bristol Airport are starting from the Queen Square stop on Prince Street, then operating as normal, including via Temple Meads Station. Bristol Bus Station and The Centre are not being served. Please go to the Queen Square (Q1) stop or Temple Meads Station (T6) stops to catch your bus.

Service m2 from Long Ashton Park & Ride is running normal route as far as the Cabot Circus stop on Bond Street, then diverting to Redcliff Hill stop, then normal route back to the P&R. Please go to Cabot Circus stop (S2) or Redcliff Hill stop (R1) to catch your bus. This service is not serving Broadmead (Rupert Street), The Centre or Queen Square stops.

Services m3, m4, T1, Y1 and Y2 into Bristol City Centre will only go as far as the Cabot Circus stop on Bond Street upon arrival in the City Centre. Departing the City Centre, they will start from the outbound Cabot Circus stop on Bond Street, then run normal route. These services will not serve Broadmead (Rupert Street/Lewins Mead) or The Centre - please go to Bond Street, Cabot Circus stop (S1), to catch your bus.

North Somerset services X1, X4, X6 and X9 coming in from Weston-super-Mare, Portishead, Clevedon and Nailsea are running normal route as far as Hotwell Road, and terminating there. They cannot continue on to Anchor Road, The Centre or Bristol Bus Station.

North Somerset services X1, X4, X6 and X9 heading out of Bristol towards Weston-super-Mare, Portishead, Clevedon or Nailsea are starting from Hotwell Road (turning around on the roundabout at the bottom of Jacob's Wells Road), then running normal route. They cannot serve Bristol Bus Station, The Centre or Anchor Road. Please go to Hotwell Road to catch your bus.

Route X39/39 from Bath is terminating at Redcliffe Way, then starting back towards Bath from Redcliffe Way. Bristol Bus Station and The Centre stops are not being served, please go to Temple Gate bus stop T3 or Temple Meads Station bus stop T1 to catch your bus. Please note, this service is facing additional disruption from the railway line being closed between Bristol and Bath.

Bristol Bus Station - Coach Services:

Bristol Bus Station has had to be closed as it is within the cordon. National Express and FlixBus coach services are currently departing from Bond Street, using the Bear Pit (St James Barton) Roundabout to turn round to head back towards the M32.
