The Green, Writtle is closed for overnight roadworks from 10/03/2026 to 13/03/2026.

*This is a timed road closure: the road will be closed nightly between 20:00hrs and 05:00hrs*

Due to the location of the roadworks - the C4 will be placed on diversion:

Towards Writtle: The C4 will divert via Forest Drive, Waterhouse Lane, Westway, London Road, Greenbury Way (A414) and Bulimers Way before circumnavigating the roundabout and terminating service. *Passengers for Writtle will be instructed when it is safe to disembark vehicle*

Towards Chelmsford City Centre: The C4 will recommence diversion route via Bulimers Way, Greenbury Way (A414), London Road, Westway and Waterhouse Lane before returning to normal line of route on Forest Drive.

The following bus stops will not be served in both directions:

  • Delamere Road
  • Hole in Hedge
  • Hylands School
  • St John's Green
  • Writtle Green
  • Prestons Garage
  • Purcell Cole
  • Chequers Road
  • Lodge Road
  • The Ryle
  • Loves Walk
  • Romans Place
