FAQs
If your primary address is in Wales and you’re either aged 60 and over or meet the Government’s disability eligibility criteria, you can travel for free on most bus services in Wales - that includes all local First Bus services in Wales!
To view the full eligiblity criteria and apply for your pass, please visit the Transport for Wales website. It only takes 10 minutes but you will need to supply your National Insurance number, a recent council tax bill, a digital passport-style photo of yourself and proof of age. If applying for a Disabled Person's pass, you will also have to supply documentation as proof of your disability.
You might be contacted for more information following your application. If you do not have a phone number or email address, then a friend or relative can apply on your behalf. If this is not possible then you should get in touch with your local council by visiting their local office, a library or community hub.
The Welsh Concessionary Travel Card is valid on local bus services in Wales only and not across the UK. However, some cross-border services that operate into England may accept the Welsh Concessionary Travel Card.
There are no time or day restrictions on using your Welsh Concessionary Travel Card - travel any time, any day!
If you damage or lose your card, the quickest and easiest way to request a replacement is by logging into your account on the Transport for Wales website or by calling 03003 034 240. You can also visit your local council office, a library or community hub for support.
It is valid for 10 years. If you have received a letter advising your card is due to expire or has expired, please log into your TFW account to request a renewal. Your card expiry date is printed on the front of your card. You can only apply for a renewal a maximum of 6 weeks before your card is due to expire.
If you think your Welsh Concessionary Travel Card is broken, then you should get in touch with Transport for Wales. You can reach them by email at travelcards@tfw.wales or by phone on 03003 034 240.
