We're making timetable changes to our University services from Sunday 13 September 2026.
From Sunday 13 September 2026, selected early morning journeys on services U1 and U2 will start from York Railway Station instead of Merchantgate, improving connections for passengers travelling between rail services and the University.
At the same time, all University services will return to their regular term-time timetable, last operated before 6 June 2026.
What's changing?
From Sunday 13 September 2026, selected early morning journeys on services U1 and U2 will start from York Railway Station rather than Merchantgate.
These selected journeys will begin earlier from York Railway Station, while departure times at all existing stops remain unchanged.
Following the relocation of the service starting point from Merchantgate last year, customers have continued to ask for stronger links between rail services and the University. These changes improve connectivity for passengers travelling onwards from York Railway Station while maintaining the existing service structure.
All University services will also return to their regular term-time timetable, last operated before 6 June 2026.

These journeys will begin earlier from York Railway Station, with departure times at all existing stops remaining unchanged.
All other journeys will continue to operate as normal. The core service frequency, routing, fare structure and ticket validity remain unchanged.
