Thriving communities: Helping people back to work with Fortus

We recently partnered with Fortus Foundation, a community-focused charity supporting people across York and the wider region with education, employment, and equality opportunities.

Through this partnership, we’re helping the Foundation grow its funding and reach more people who need support to get back into work, with a little help from our buses.

Spreading the Message on the Move

If you spot a First Bus in York with a bright blue “Go Give One” message on the back, that’s us helping the Fortus Foundation spread the word. The campaign highlights the idea that if every business “gave one” just one percent of profits, it could make a big difference to local communities.

The eye-catching bus will be on the streets of York for the next year, thanks to a partnership between First Bus, Fortus Foundation, and Global, who manage the advertising on our fleet.

Our collaboration goes beyond awareness. We’ll also be welcoming service users from charities and community groups supported by the Fortus Foundation to our James Street depot for work experience placements, employability workshops, and confidence-building sessions.

Together, we’re creating real opportunities for people who are long-term unemployed, helping them take the next step toward work and a brighter future.
