FAQs

You qualify for a senior pass if you have reached the state pension age and are a permanent resident of West Yorkshire. You can check your eligibility on the UK Government website.

Depending on where you live, you can apply through the Stoke-on-Trent City Council or Staffordshire County Council website. You’ll need to provide a valid email address, proof of address, a passport-style photograph, and a valid UK passport or driving licence (so that they can verify your age).

Applicable to Stoke City Council only:

If you do not have internet access Stoke Local Centre offer a drop in service, where staff are able to assist with the application process.

Applicable to Staffordshire County Council only:

You can also renew passes and replace lost or stolen passes by calling Staffordshire County Council Customer Services on 0300 111 8000 or by calling into their local Staffordshire County Council-managed library

The bus pass is valid in the region or country it was issued in (England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland), but not across the UK. However, some cross-border services may accept passes from neighbouring countries.

They can be used from 9:30am to 11pm Monday to Friday, and all day at weekends and Bank Holidays.

You cannot use your Senior Pass on certain special bus services, excursions, tours, private hire vehicles, school and works contract services, football specials and certain express bus services.

Stoke-on-Trent issued ENCTS disabled passholders can travel for free before 9.30am, when boarding the bus within the city boundary. The trial is funded by the city council, with the aim of helping those who are in education and employment, and runs from 1 September 2025 until 31 March 2026. This trial does not apply to elderly pass holders who will continue to be able to travel free from 9.30am, Monday to Friday, as normal.
