How to Get Your Free mytravelpass
Who's in?
If you’re aged 16–21, you can apply for a mytravelpass – no matter where in the UK you live. It’s perfect if you’re travelling by bus in Wales regularly. Once you’ve got it, your pass will stay valid right up until your 22nd birthday.
Apply online
You can apply online through the link below. It's totally free and your mytravelpass will be valid until your 22nd birthday!
What next?
When you apply through the Transport for Wales website you'll need to supply some proof including a photo of yourself and your address. But applying shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes.
LFG!
Once your pass arrives, just buy your tickets - either in advance on the First Bus app or from the driver and show your card as you board.
Remember though that you will need to show your mytravelpass whenever you board, so have it at the ready

Anyone aged 16–21 (up to your 22nd birthday) living in Wales can apply for a mytravelpass. It gives you about a third off bus travel, making getting around more affordable.
Don’t worry — most failed applications are due to small errors (like incorrect details or a photo that doesn’t meet the guidelines). If your application isn’t successful, you’ll get an email explaining what went wrong and how to fix it.
Make sure you follow the email instructions and try again.
Don’t start a brand-new application — it could delay the process.
- When you board the bus, tell the driver you’d like a £1 single to your destination and show your mytravelpass card.
- If you’ve bought your ticket through the First Bus Bus App, show your mobile ticket to the driver along with your card.
No. To benefit from discounted fares, you need to show your valid mytravelpass card each time you travel. Without it, you’ll have to pay the normal adult fare.
