How to Get Your Free Bus Pass
Are you eligible?
If you live in England and reach the state pension age, you're good to go!
Apply online
You can apply through your local council up to 28 days before your birthday.
What you'll need
Complete the form and upload a passport style photo, proof of identity and address.

Once your pass arrives, you can enjoy free off-peak travel between 9.30am to 11pm weekdays and all weekend!

FAQs
You qualify for a senior pass if you have reached the state pension age and are a permanent resident of West Yorkshire. You can check your eligibility on the UK Government website.
You can apply through the West Yorkshire Metro website or at a Bus Station Travel Centre. You’ll need to provide an email address, a passport-style photograph, and a valid UK passport or driving licence (so that we can verify your age)
The bus pass is valid in the region or country it was issued in (England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland), but not across the UK. However, some cross-border services may accept passes from neighbouring countries.
They can be used after 9:30am Monday to Friday, and all day at weekends and Bank Holidays.
The English National Concessionary Scheme hours for free bus travel nationally are 9:30am to 11pm, however, the West Yorkshire scheme allows for concessionary travel from 11pm until the end of service.
You cannot use your Senior Pass on certain special bus services, excursions, tours, private hire vehicles, school and works contract services, football specials and certain express bus services.
If lost, you will need to pay £5 and apply for a replacement. See Replacement Passes for full details.
If your pass is damaged, as long as you return the damaged Senior Pass, it can be replaced free of charge. See Replacement Passes for full details.
If your pass gets stolen, you will need to report it to the Police and obtain a crime reference number. You can then obtain a replacement free of charge. See Replacement Passes for full details.
Passes are valid for five years from the date it was issued or renewed.
