New Tap On, Tap Off (TOTO) payment technology being introduced on First Worcester buses with new tickets and more choice
- Tap on Tap off technology being introduced on First Worcester bus services Sunday 27th November.
- Peace of mind that the best value adult fare will be charged each time a person travels using TOTO
- New day ticket bundles being introduced for the more regular traveler on the First Bus App
- New return ticket options also being introduced delivering more savings for people making a return journey on the same day
Tap On Tap Off (TOTO) technology is being introduced on First Worcester buses from Sunday 27th November, meaning simple, hassle-free payment that guarantees customers will always be charged the best value fare for their bus journeys.
Customers will no longer have to worry about which ticket to buy. They will simply tap on with their credit/debit card or Google or Apple Pay device when they board and tap off when they leave the bus. The technology does the rest, working out the best value adult fare to charge for each journey.
No matter how many times customers travel each day, they will never pay more than the day ticket fare, and frequent travellers will also benefit from the flexibility the system offers as they will never pay more than the weekly fare over each Monday to Sunday period. TOTO is also a faster way to board than buying a ticket from the driver, so everyone using the new system will be doing their bit to speed up journeys for all customers. Tap On, Tap Off | First Bus
In addition to the new technology and to align with new flexible working patterns, a range of day ticket bundles is being introduced on the First Bus app for regular travellers. More details can be found here: bundle tickets | First Bus
Although some fares across First Worcester’s ticket range will increase, a new cheaper return journey option will now be available for customers who normally make two single journeys on the same day. Most standard single journey ticket prices will also remain the same. Details of the new fares can be found here
Doug Claringbold, Managing Director at First Worcester said:
” Payment technology is set to take a major step forward with the introduction of the TOTO system. Simplification and choice of ticketing are key ingredients in our plan to meet the changing travel patterns of our existing customers, and to welcome new customers onto our bus network with a simpler, more flexible offer that gives customers the confidence to travel by bus.
“We recognised that a full review of our ticket portfolio was needed, especially with cost of living increases and the increase in flexible work patterns. Buses play a vital role in tackling congestion, pollution and climate change and we really hope existing and new customers will give TOTO and our new ticket options a try”
