Caribbean Carnival - disruption to services in the City Centre, Saturday 6 August

Due to the Caribbean Carnival on Saturday 6 August, there will be some changes to bus stops in the City Centre and some routes will be diverted.

Delays are likely on all services - please allow plenty of time for your journey.

Bus stop changes
Many services will operate to/from different stops in the City Centre from approx 1300 until late afternoon. We will return to normal once the parade has passed - we will have extra staff available to help services run as smoothly as possible.

Details for all services are below.

London Road will be closed between Mayfield Road and Waterloo Way from 12:45 until 16:45

Services will operate different routes to/from their allocated City Centre stops - we advise customers to wait at the stops shown in the guide on this page.

Service 16 towards General Hospital - departs from temporary stop in St. James Street, Humberstone Gate, right St. George's Way left Swain Street then normal route.

Service 16 towards City Centre - normal route to Swain Street, right St. George's Way, St. Matthew's Way left Wharf Street, right Fleet Street,  left Lee Street, left St. James Street

Service 17 Highfields - departs from temporary stop in St. James Street, left Humberstone Gate, right St. George's Way, left Swain Street then normal route until Humberstone Road, circle the roundabout left St. Matthew's Way, left Wharf Street, right Fleet Street, left Lee Street then left into St. James Street.

Service 21 towards Thurmaston - departs normal stand in Haymarket Bus Station, right Belgrave Gate, right St. Matthew's Way, left Humberstone Road then normal route.

Service 21 towards City Centre - normal route to St. Matthew's Way, right St. Matthew's Way, left Belgrave Gate, left Charles Street then to normal stand.

Service 38/38A towards Netherhall & Thurnby Lodge - departs from temporary stop in St. James Street, left Humberstone Gate then normal route.

Service 38/38A towards City Centre - normal route to Humberstone Road, right St. Matthew's Way, left Wharf Street, right Fleet Street, left Lee Street, left into St. James Street.

Service 88/88A towards Eyres Monsell departs from temporary stop in St. Margaret's Bus Station, Gravel Street, left Abbey Street left Burley's Way, Vaughan Way, Southgates Underpass, Newarke Street,Welford Road, then normal route. 

Service 88/88A towards City Centre - normal route to Oxford Street, Southgates Underpass, Vaughan Way, Burley's Way and into St. Margaret's Bus Station.

Diversions due to closure of London Road
These diversions will apply between 1245 & 1645 approx.

Service 22 & 54 towards City Centre  - normal route to Evington Road/East Park Road, right East Park Road (22), left St. Peter's Road, Swain Street, right St. George's Way, St. Matthew's Way, left Belgrave Gate, left Charles Street then to normal stands in the Haymarket Bus Station.

Service 22 & 54 towards Evington/Goodwood -  departs from temporary stop outside Wilko's, right at the Haymarket Bus Station, right Belgrave Gate, right St. Matthew's Way, St. George's Way, Swain Street, St. Peter's Road, East Park Road, Left Evington Road (22) then normal route.
