We're making some adjustments to our Solent network from Saturday 26th July
These changes include revised frequencies on Services 1 and 3, the introduction of a new express service, the X3, and timetable updates to Services X4 and X5.
The new X3 service will provide a direct link between Fareham and South Parade Pier, offering a faster journey and serving customers travelling to and from Southsea.
We've also reviewed running times on the X4 and X5 to improve reliability, with some evening X4 journeys being replaced by the X3 service.
We recommend checking your journey before travelling to see how these changes may affect you.
What's changing?
From 26th July, Service 1 will run every 12 minutes during peak times on weekdays. This change will help support improvements to other services across the network while continuing to provide a frequent service for customers.
From 26th July, additional journeys will be introduced on the X3 on Saturdays, providing more travel options for customers.
To support these improvements, Service 3 will operate every 12 minutes during weekday peak times instead of every 10 minutes.
From 26th July, the new X3 will provide a faster, more direct link between Fareham, Portchester, Portsmouth city centre and Southsea.
Running up to every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday, the X3 will operate from early morning through to late evening, with journeys between 07:25 and 23:45. The new service will offer two buses per hour along the Fareham-Portchester-Portsmouth corridor, giving customers more choice and flexibility when travelling.
The current 3 service which runs between Fareham Bus Station and South Parade Pier has an average running time of 90 minutes whereas the X3 (which also runs between Fareham Bus Station and South Parade Pier) will have an average running time of 50 minutes. As part of this, it will take ~35 minutes to Portsmouth Harbour/The Hard Interchange; making the X3 a convenient alternative for many rail journeys.
We have reviewed journey times on the X4 and X5 to help improve punctuality and reliability.
As part of these changes, the short evening journeys between Fareham and The Hard Interchange on the X4 will be replaced by the new X3 service, which will continue through to South Parade Pier.
