Community Good
We support local causes that matter to the people of Greater Manchester
At First Bus Rochdale, we're proud to go beyond the bus. Our Community Good work is all about creating real, lasting impact - whether that's supporting local talent, inspiring young people, volunteering time, or backing local charities. This page highlights how we’re driving change in the communities we serve every day.

We are proud to support local talent through our apprenticeship programme and inclusive employment pathways. We’re developing future talent through apprenticeships and partnerships with organisations like Future Finders Employability College.

We’re committed to inclusive volunteering that makes a difference. Every week, a supported individual from Next Stage ‘A Way Forward’ Ltd joins our depot team to volunteer. Our staff also regularly volunteer to support local causes.

We inspire the next generation through T Level placements, careers events, and in-school activities. From mock interviews and site visits to in-depth T Level placements, we help students of all ages explore careers and develop employability skills.

We’re proud to support local charities, bringing practical help and festive cheer to those who need it most. Whether it's donating to Rochdale Foodbank, joining the GM Mayor’s Charity, or delivering Christmas magic with Cash for Kids, we’re here to help.

From in-kind donations to hospital gardens, we’re helping communities grow—literally and figuratively. Over the past year, we’ve donated over £7,000 in cash and in-kind support to local causes.

We’re investing in the future of Rochdale—supporting local jobs and strengthening the local economy. First Bus has invested £2.4 million in 17 brand new Mellor Strata Ultra buses—all built locally in Rochdale.
