Temporary Bus Diversions in Penzance from 5 January 2026

The Ross Swing Bridge will be closed from 5 January 2026 for full structural refurbishment under the Penzance Sustainable Travel Network project (refurbishment works per Cornwall Council’s public tender notice). During this period, all journeys that would normally run inbound and outbound via Wharf Road, The Quay, crossing Ross Bridge, then via Battery Road and Western Promenade, will be temporarily rerouted.

For journeys between the Bus Station and the bus stops outside Lidl, the new routing will be via Alexandra Road → Alverton Road → Market Jew Street (in both directions).

This diversion will remain in effect for the duration of the bridge works (estimated to be up to 16 weeks).
