1, 1A, M6, 17 & 17A: Golowan Festival 2025

This year’s Golowan Festival will be taking place from Friday the 23rd of June to the 30th of June 2025.

During this time there will be a series of closures around Penzance affecting services.

Please read the below for how your services will be diverting.

Mazey Eve Fireworks and Quay Fair Day

Mazey Eve Fireworks and Quay Fair Day will be taking place on 27th of June between 20:00 hours and 23:59 hours, and the 29th of June between 07:00 and 19:00 hours.

This will have effect on the 1 and 1A services.

During this time, buses will be diverting via Alexandra Road and Market Jew Street to and from the Bus Station.

Please note that we will be unable to serve Jubilee Pool during this time.

Mazey Day

Mazey Day will be taking place on the 28th of June between the hours of 06:00 and 19:00.

This will affect the 17, 17A and M6 services.

17 and 17A towards Heamoor

From the Bus Station, service will turn right and travel along Chyandour Cliff to Branwell Lane Roundabout. Here they will take the first exit off and follow the A30 to Heamoor roundabout where they will resume their normal line of route.

17 and 17A towards Penzance Bus Station

From Heamoor roundabout buses will take the third exit off onto the A30 and carry on down to Branwell Lane Roundabout. There they will exit onto Eastern Green and continue into the Bus Station.

Please note that we will not be able to serve the Town centre, Penolverne Drive, St Clare Street and Nancealverne in both directions.

M6 towards Mousehole

From Market Jew Street, the M6 will turn Left at Longboat Inn travel to the top of the Causeway. It will then turn right and head towards West Cornwall Hospital roundabout. Here it will turn left and down Penalverne drive to First and Last then continue normal route.

M6 towards Penzance

From the First and Last Pub, buses will turn left up Penalverne drive to West Cornwall Hospital. They will then turn right at the roundabout and down towards the top of the Causeway where they will turn left on to Taroveor Road. They will then follow carry on down to Sea View fish and chip shop and turn right on to Adelaide Street. From here they will continue back to bus Station.

The 1/1A towards Lands’ End

From the Bu Station, service will turn right and travel along Chyandour Cliff to Branwell Lane Roundabout. Here they will take the first exit off and follow the A30 to Heamoor roundabout where they will turn left and follow the road down St Clare Street and right onto to Penolverne Drive. They will then turn right onto Alverton Road, then left at the roundabout and follow Alexandra Road resuming their normal line of route along Western Promenade Road

The 1/1A towards Penzance Bus Station

From Western Promenade Road, buses will turn left up Alexandra Road and then right onto Alverton Road. They will then turn left and travel up Penolverne Drive to St Clare Street, where they will turn left and carry on to Heamoor roundabout. They will then take the third exit off onto the A30 and carry on down to Branwell Lane Roundabout, there they will exit onto Eastern Green and continue into the Bus Station.

Quay Fair Day

Quay Fair Day will be taking place on the 28th of June between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00.

This will affect the 1 and 1A services

The 1/1A towards Lands’ End
