Book for a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday to take in famous sites such as the Minster and Shambles and to take away some creative camera skills.

DANTE FESTIVAL AT YORK RACECOURSE

A day at the races attracts folk from all around to York, and this month offers a midweek opportunity to visit the gee-gees. Dante Festival is one of York's top meetings, with three days of thrilling flat racing of thoroughbred horses. YORK NEW MUSIC WEEKEND AT SIR JACK LYONS CONCERT HALL

This annual musical showcase delves deep into the talents of specific musicians, and this year focuses on the celebrated York composer Trevor Wishart. The event will host workshops, listening tours, music concerts and more, culminating in the UK premiere of The Garden of Earthly Delights, an hour-long comic opera. This three day exploration of sound promises to be a unique treat for the ears.
THE GRUFFALO AT GRAND OPERA HOUSE

The Grand Opera House always has a great selection of shows coming to its stage, and this month is an eclectic mix that offers something for everyone. There are musicals, plays and comedy, and for fun for all the family then book a ticket on the weekend of the 21st and 22nd when The Gruffalo is in town. This popular adaptation of the much loved book is pure entertainment for children and adults alike, all set in this stunning York theatre.
JORVIK VIKING FESTIVAL AT JORVIK VIKING CENTRE & VARIOUS VENUES

York is famous for its Viking history, and one of the city’s most popular attractions is the Jorvik Viking Centre, which tells the story in an interactive and enthralling trip. To experience it further, come to York from 28th May to 1st June for the Jorvik Viking Festival. At a variety of venues you’ll find Viking events, including the epic new challenge The Jorvik Games and the collective sight and sounds of the March To Coppergate. Unique fun for all ages.

THE YORK SPRING FAIR & FOOD FESTIVAL AT YORK RACECOURSE

It’s the Jubilee bank holiday weekend and half term, and that can only mean one thing: FUN! And at York Racecourse the fun is joined by flags, food, fairs and festivals. This ten day extravaganza runs from the last Friday in May through the first week of June and grows on its successful first year. From morning till evening, enjoy the large funfair and the artisan food stalls, as well as music, entertainment, and a celebratory atmosphere.
