A day at the races attracts folk from all around to York, and this month offers a midweek opportunity to visit the gee-gees. This annual musical showcase delves deep into the talents of specific musicians, and this year focuses on the celebrated York composer Trevor Wishart. The event will host workshops, listening tours, music concerts and more, culminating in the UK premiere of The Garden of Earthly Delights, an hour-long comic opera. This three day exploration of sound promises to be a unique treat for the ears.
THE GRUFFALO AT GRAND OPERA HOUSE

The Grand Opera House always has a great selection of shows coming to its stage, and this month is an eclectic mix that offers something for everyone. There are musicals, plays and comedy, and for fun for all the family then book a ticket on the weekend of the 21st and 22nd when The Gruffalo is in town. York is famous for its Viking history, and one of the city’s most popular attractions is the Jorvik Viking Centre, which tells the story in an interactive and enthralling trip. THE YORK SPRING FAIR & FOOD FESTIVAL AT YORK RACECOURSE

It’s the Jubilee bank holiday weekend and half term, and that can only mean one thing: FUN! And at York Racecourse the fun is joined by flags, food, fairs and festivals.
