Leedscity electric buses have arrived!
Our new Route 5 buses are the first-ever fleet of zero emission, fully electric buses in Leeds, helping us on our journey to a carbon neutral First Bus fleet by 2035! The introduction of these electric vehicles, and our other Leedscity Euro V1, low emission vehicles, is part of our continued efforts in partnership with Leeds City Council to create cleaner air in Leeds!
Our new Leedscity buses are 100% electric, with zero emissions! Here's some interesting facts on our new buses:
- They have a range of 200 miles on a single charge overnight, enabling the buses to operate all day without recharging
- The fleet of nine electric buses will save more than 400 tonnes of carbon per year on the service 5 route (compared to diesel vehicles)
- We'll save 45 tonnes of carbon per vehicle each year by switching to 100% electric buses (compared to diesel vehicles)
- They can save you 4kg of carbon compared to driving the same distance by car
- Even the headlights are super-efficient, low energy LEDs!
- Fitted with the BusEYE system of early warning features, to improve road saftey with other vehicles and alert pedestrians

There’s plenty to do in Leeds & our electric Route 5 buses will take you to some great spots around the city centre. Hop on and off this Leedscity bus with great links to Leeds rail and bus stations, businesses and shopping districts, the LGI, Universities and Halton Moor. All for just £1.00! These buses run every 10 minutes Monday-Saturday across the city centre.

Stop 3 Trinity Shopping Centre: Browse your high-street favourites at Trinity Shopping Centre and grab a bite to eat at Trinity Kitchen, with a mix of vibrant restaurants & street food vans.
Stop 6 Leeds Art Gallery: Visit Leeds Art Gallery to see vast collections of paintings & sculptures, with this building being one of the most recognisable in the city!
Stop 17 Corn Exchange: Check out Leeds Corn Exchange, a thriving retail hub with 30 independent designer-makers, specialist retailers and foodie outlets now trading beneath the breath-taking domed roof. It’s a Grade 1 listed structure.
