How do I qualify for a Senior Pass?

To qualify for a pass you need to be a resident of South Yorkshire and of eligible age.

If you are born after 5 April 1950 and before 6 October 1954 you will become eligible for concessionary travel at a date between your 60th and 66th birthdays. Your precise age of eligibility will depend on your individual date of birth.

Where can I use my pass?

Senior Pass (ENCTS) holders can travel free from 0930 to 2300 on weekdays, all day at weekends and on Bank Holidays:

on local bus services* and trams within South Yorkshire
in all other parts of England your pass entitles you to travel free on local bus services*

* Local bus services do not include booked excursions and long distance coach travel such as that provided by National Express or Megabus. They may also exclude some special services such as temporary shuttle bus.

Please note that if you travel without your pass you will be asked to pay the full adult fare.

Blind/Disabled Permit Holders

Free bus travel is available all day, every day.

A South Yorkshire mobility pass with the 'eye' symbol on is identified as a blind person's pass.

Travelling with a carer / companion

If you hold a South Yorkshire blind / disabled permit showing the companion symbol, then one companion is entitled to the same concession as the pass holder. You don't have to travel with the same companion every time you use our buses, but your companion does have to get on and off the bus at the same stop as you.

South Yorkshire changes from 7th April

We will be making some timetable changes and renumbering some of our services across South Yorkshire to improve punctuality, bringing more links and buses for the community. All Doncaster buses will start with the number 3 to differentiate our cross services and simplify them.

Sheffield/Rotherham changes

Sheffield – Rotherham – Maltby – Doncaster

Service 10 will be replaced by service X2 and run between Sheffield and Doncaster, serving Brightside, Meadowhall, Masbrough, Rotherham, Wickersley, Maltby, Braithwell, Edlington, Warmsworth and Balby. This is following customer feedback to reinstate a through service between Rotherham, Wickersley, Flanderwell, Bramley, Hellaby, Maltby, Braithwell, Edlington, Balby and Doncaster.

X1/X10 - X10 becomes X2

Sheffield – Rotherham – Maltby – Doncaster

X10 to be renumbered as X2. Between Sheffield and Rotherham, both services will run through Bright side and Masbrough (switching over routes with X1/X10) with changes to the times.

X78 - becomes X3

Sheffield – Rotherham – Doncaster

Service X78 will be re-numbered X3. Between Sheffield and Rotherham buses will run Attercliffe (switching over routes with X1/X10) with changes to the times.

Sheffield – Dinnington – Maltby

Service X5 will extend beyond Dinnington to run through to Maltby, serving Thurcroft, Bramley and Hellaby on an hourly basis. This will provide access to employment at Hellaby/Maltby and also provide a direct link to Sheffield from Thurcroft and Laughton Common.

Woodhouse - Sheffield-Lowedges

A new timetable will be introduced to improve coordination with service 25.

52a

Woodhouse - Hillsborough

Service 52A will be extended to serve Wisewood and Loxley following a demand in service. Buses will run more frequent at every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday daytimes. Between Hillsborough and Woodhouse, buses will remain every 15 minutes, but the times will be amended to provide better co-ordination with Stagecoach.

Hillsborough - Totley

Service 97 - 0540 from Totley cancelled, 0546 from Totley Brook runs 6 minutes earlier to maintain a similar arrival time in the city.

Rotherham - Treeton - Sheffield

A revised evening and Sunday timetable will be introduced with buses running a 2 hourly service instead of 130 minutes. Following customer requests, an additional departure will be added from AMRC to Rotherham at 16:25

Rotherham - East Herringthorpe/Ravenfield Common

Will see a minor change to the evening timetable, the frequency will remain the same.

More buses will run on Sundays with an increased frequency of every hour.

15 - becomes service 315	Doncaster - Edlington	Service 15 will be re-numbered 315 and will operate between Doncaster and Edlington only. An improved frequency will be introduced with buses running up to every 12 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytime and every 30 minutes in the evening and on Sundays. Service 376 will be reintroduced to serve Clay Lane.
16 - becomes services 316	Doncaster - Balby	Service 16 will be re-numbered 316.
41/41a - becomes service 341	Doncaster - Scawsby	Service 41 will be re-numbered 341. Revised timetable to improve punctuality/coordination. Reintroduction of 41a (341a) journeys will give a combined hourly service.
50/50a/50b - becomes service 350, 351 and 352	Doncaster - Skellow	Services 50, 50A & 50B will be re-numbered to 350, 351 & 352 with a revised timetable to improve punctuality.
52 - becomes service 353	Doncaster - Red House direct	Service 52 will be re-numbered 353 to match the York Road services.
54 - becomes service 354	Doncaster - Woodlands	Service 54 will be re-numbered 354. The frequency will increase from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes which will provide more buses to Scawthorpe and Woodlands.
55/56 - becomes 355 and 356	Doncaster - Rossington	Services 55 & 56 will be re-numbered 355 & 356. The frequency will increase from every 15 minutes to every 12 minutes which will provide more buses to iPort, Lakeside and Rossington (Please note, service i4 is unchanged).
57/57a - becomes 357 and 357a	Doncaster - Cantley- Finningley	Service 57 & 57A will be re-numbered 357 & 357A. A new timetable will be introduced to help keep buses on time, and following customer feedback will serve Warning Tongue Lane (Cantley) hourly. A teatime journey will extend to serve Epworth providing an evening journey to Westwood side, Haxey and Epwroth under contract to North Lincs Council. This will return in service to give an evening bus into Doncaster that arrives just after 8pm.
58 - becomes service 358	Doncaster - West Bessacarr	Service 58 will be re-numbered 358. Following customer feedback this service will now operate in both directions along Stoops Lane , buses towards the city will use the shelters previously provided. Buses will operate every 30-40 minutes.
59 - becomes service 359	Doncaster-Finningley	Service 59 will be re-numbered 359.
64 - becomes service 364 & 364a	Doncaster - Bentley - Arksey	Service 64 will be re-numbered 364 & 364A. A new timetable will be introduced to help keep buses on time.
65 - becomes service 365	Doncaster - Intake	Service 65 will be re-numbered 365. A new timetable will be introduced to help keep buses on time.
66	Intake - Bentley	Service 66 will be re-numbered 366 A new timetable will be introduced to help keep buses on time.
71/72/73 - becomes 371, 372 & 373	Doncaster - Balby - Laekeside circular	Services 71, 72 & 73 will be re-numbered 371, 372 & 373. A new timetable will be introduced to help keep buses on time.
15 - becomes service 376	Doncaster - Clay Lane	A new service 376 will be introduced to replace service 15 between Doncaster and Clay Lane. Splitting this service will help keep buses on time because they will not get held up if Balby Road is congested.
81/82 - becomes service 381 & 382	Doncaster - Armthorpe	Services 81 & 82 will be re-numbered 381 & 382. A new timetable will be introduced with an increased frequency of every 12 minutes on Saturday to meet demand. To reflect falling passenger numbers on Sunday the frequency will be every 20 minutes.
84 - becomes service 384 & 384a	Doncaster - Thorne	Service 84 will be re-numbered 384 & 384A. Following customer feedback we are introducing a revised network of services that will serve more communities in the North East Doncaster area. During the day journeys will be extended from Barnby Dun to Stainforth and Hatfield/Westfield Green. A new timetable will be introduced with an increased frequency of every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday during the day. Service 384A will operate in the evenings and on Sundays. A revised timetable will be introduced to co-ordinate with service 387.
84a - becomes service 385	Barnby Dun-Moorlands Prison	Service 84A will be re-numbered 385
87/87a - becomes 387 & 387a	Doncaster – Thorne – Moorends	Service 87 will be re-numbered 387 & 387A. Service 87A will be replaced by service 388. Following customer feedback, we are introducing a revised network of services that will serve more communities in the North East Doncaster area. Service 388 will run between Doncaster and Thorne, providing a direct service to Hatfield Woodhouse to/from Doncaster. During the late afternoon buses will extend through to Moorends providing more links and better coordination. A new timetable will be introduced with buses running every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday during the day on service 387. Service 387A will operate in the evenings and on Sundays and coordinate with service 384A.
205 - becomes service 305	Doncaster - Tickhill	Service 205 will be re-numbered 305
456	Woodfield - Rossington - McAuley School - Doncaster	Morning journey to reflect the afternoon journey (455) currently provided. This has been as a result of public demand.
