Sheffield Christmas Markets 16 November - 24 December

Accessible via all City Centre services, this is one not to miss! 

The markets span from the Peace Gardens to the Moor. Treat yourself to a festive hot chocolate, or a festive tipple at the Alpine themed bars. You can also find traditional German sausage grill, Yorkshire Pudding Wraps, mulled wine and cider, churros and so much more. 

Sheffield’s iconic big wheel will also be back at the bottom of the moor, including a Santa’s grotto. 

The Moor cabins opening times: Sunday – Thursday 10am – 6pm Friday and Saturday 10am – 7pm 

Pinstone Street Cabins opening times: Sunday – Thursday 10am – 7pm and Friday and Saturday 10am – 8pm.

Bars open 11am – 10pm every day.

Sheffield Cathedral illuminated starlight, 5-9 December

Catch the beautiful light projection display at the Sheffield Cathedral, a mesmerising experience you simply cannot miss.

Christmas Panto - Snow White at the Lyceum, 6 December - 5 January

Catch the classic Snow White performed at the Lyceum this Christmas, a perfect family day out.

Christmas Panto - Beauty and the Beast at the Lyceum, 8 December - 7 January

It's not Christmas without a panto, and the Lyceum is the place to visit some of the best Christmas pantos in Sheffield. From 8 December, you can catch the classic Beauty and the Beast, with showings running from morning to evening.

Visit Santa’s grotto at Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre, until 24 December

Hop on board service 120 to Crystal Peaks and visit Santa and his magical elves.

Santa’s Winter Village at Meadowhall, 24 November - 24 December

Santa’s winter village is open now,  and is located at the External Oasis Courtyard. 

Set amongst snow-covered Christmas trees and stunning fairy lights and Santa’s team of elves, you’ll be guided into their cosy workshop. Little ones can then write a letter to Santa and post it in the post box, and even help Santa get the presents ready for Christmas Eve. 

Children will receive a gift from Santa, and expect lots of fun games, songs, and dancing, and even an array of Christmas rides.

Santa's Study, a FREE cosy Christmas experience, From 25 November

From Sunday 25th November, head over to Santa's Study at 11 Fargate (formerly Paperchase). Santa's Study will open every Saturday and Sunday from 25th November, and offers an immersive family experience set in a magical setting. Enter the enchanted forest and reveal a fun space, with lots to be discovered. It's free to explore, and children can write their letters to Santa here too.

Firth Park Christmas Market, 9 December 

Firth Park Christmas Market is on Saturday 9 December 10am - 3pm, and will also host their Christmas light switch on with a Santa, DJ and markets from local bakers.

See the Grinch in person at Meadowhall, various dates

Take a trip to Who-ville and see the Grinch in person at Meadowhall throughout December. The Grinch will be taking a tour around Meadowhall on the below dates, so be quick before you miss him! 

December dates: 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and 24th 

40 minute appearances at 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm

A Town Called Christmas at the Crucible Playhouse, 15 - 30 Dec

A brand new Christmas show for children aged 3+ comes to the Crucible Playhouse, a magical Christmas performance you simply cannot miss.

Walkley Christmas Market, St Mary's Church free entry - 11am - 4pm, 16 December

Walkley Christmas Market is free to enter and will have over 30 quality market stalls spread throughout this historical Victorian church, with local makers and creators showcasing some fantastically festive gifts - perfect to find some lovely stocking fillers.

There'll also be refreshments, mulled wine, live music, children's activities, hot food and a chance to meet Mrs Christmas.

A Cathedral Christmas, 19 December, 19:30 - 21:30

A cathedral Christmas concert is back for 2023, raising money for Sheffield Hospital Charity's. Start the countdown and join in for a magical night of festive entertainment. This year, the concert will be hosted by Rev. Kate Bottley, Radio 2 presenter and former Gogglebox star.

There will be performances from Sheffield Rock Choir, Neighbourhood Voices and more.

The Christmas Crooners,  Eccy and Totsy, Atkinsons, The Moor, from 25 November

From Sunday 25 November, enjoy the festive spirit with the sounds of Christmas harmonies and family favourites. Just head to the first floor of the independent department store Atkinsons to find the Christmas Crooners. There will be two animated reindeers – Eccy and Totsy.

You can also catch some Arctic Penguins at Marks & Spencers on Fargate, which will be located in the Children’s wear department on the first floor.
