Changes to fares in the Basildon Zone, from 17th April 2022
From Sunday 17th April 2022 we are making some changes to our local bus fares in South Essex.
We are introducing a new, local, Basildon Shuttles Zone with simpler, more flexible ticketing options reflecting the changing needs of our customers.
The Basildon Shuttles Zone covers the area from Pitsea to Laindon, and from the A13 to the A127 (including Noak Bridge and Steeple View).
Within the new Basildon Shuttles Zone we have reduced the cost of single fares from £3.20 to £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children.
Return tickets for travel entirely within the Basildon Shuttles Zone will no longer be available.
Because most of our customers pay by contactless methods we are introducing a new, simpler and more flexible ticketing option – Tap&Cap.
Tap&cap reduces the cost of the travel the more you travel in a week allowing a more flexible approach to paying for bus journeys and ensures you never pay for more than you need.
What is Tap&Cap?
Simply board the bus in the Basildon Shuttles Zone, tap your card on the reader, wait for the beep, smile at the drivers (it will make their day) and take your seat. It’s that simple.
Your first journey in any one day in the Basildon Shuttles Zone is £2.50, the second is £1.50, third and fourth are £1 and your fifth and subsequent journeys in any one day are FREE.
In any week the maximum you will pay is £6.00 on day one, £5.00 on days two, three and four. Days five, six and seven provide travel within the zone, all day, as often as you like for £1.00 a day capping the weekly cost at £24 and renewing each Monday.
Single and day tickets for the Basildon Shuttles Zone will be available from your driver but weekly and 4-weekly tickets will only be available on our app.
