Weston-super-Mare Air Festival 2022 - changes to bus services
Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June sees the return of the Weston Air Festival. There are some closures and it is likely to be very busy around the town.
Following experience of previous years and to keep our services running as smoothly as possible, buses will operate with the following amendments on both days. For simplicity, these diversions will operate all day on both days.
All services will continue to use their usual stops in the Interchange, and this is the recommended place to go to catch your bus over the weekend.
Services X1 and X5
Towards Weston-super-Mare, buses will run as far as the Weston-super-Mare Interchange stop and then terminate.
Towards Bristol, buses will start from the Weston-super-Mare Interchange stop.
The following bus stops will not be served: Marine Parade (by the seafront), Oxford Street.
Service 1
Towards Sand Bay: the railway station forecourt will be closed. Buses will instead pick up from the stop on Station Road across from the Tesco petrol station.
They will then run via Walliscote Road into the Interchange, serve the usual route 1 stop in the Interchange, then run via Alfred Street, Boulevard, Waterloo Road, South Parade and Knightstone Road, serving all stops along the diversion.
Towards Weston-super-Mare: buses will serve normal route as far as the Cabot Court Hotel, then turn left into Knightstone Road and use South Parade, Waterloo Road, Boulevard, Alfred Street, round onto Locking Road, Francis Fox Road, and then – as the rail station forecourt is closed – turn right to terminate at Station Road stop, across from the Tesco petrol station (see above).
Stops not served: Winter Gardens, Grand Pier
Service 3
Normal route both directions.
Service 7
From Haywood Village towards Worle: normal route as far as the Interchange. Then, via Station Road, Francis Fox Road, Locking Road and Alfred Street to turn right at the end to resume normal route at the Boulevard.
From Worle towards Haywood Village: normal route until Boulevard, then at the junction with Alfred Street, via Alfred Street, Locking Road, Francis Fox Road, Station Road and Walliscote Road into the Interchange, to resume normal route.
Stops not served: Oxford Street, Winter Gardens, Weston College, Waterloo Street, Boulevard.
Service 20
Towards Burnham-on-Sea: normal route from the Interchange via the Railway Station (Neva Road) to Ellenborough Park, then via service 7 route onto Devonshire Road (Walliscote Road, Severn Road, Severn Avenue, Quantock Road). Then, via Windwhistle Road, to resume normal route at Uphill Road South.
Towards Weston-super-Mare: normal route as far as Uphill Road South, then via Windwhistle Road, Devonshire Road and via service 7 route into Weston (Quantock Road, Severn Avenue, Severn Road, Walliscote Road) to terminate at the Interchange as normal.
Stops not served: all stops along the seafront - Ellenborough Park North, Clevedon Road, Clarence Road North, Royal Sands, Charlton Road and Broadoak Road.
Alternative stops: all stops along the diversion.
Please note: we will endeavour to serve Uphill, but previous years have involved issues with badly parked cars blocking the road. Please keep an eye on our Twitter page for details of any changes on the day.
Service 51
Towards Weston-super-Mare: normal route, but missing out the Rail Station stop.
Towards Wrington: from the Interchange, the service will double back to reach the temporary stop on Station Road as it will be unable to use the Rail Station forecourt (please see above). It will then loop back around to resume normal route.
Service 126
Normal route.
Service A3
Towards Bristol Airport: will start from the stop on Station Road (please see above) instead of the Rail Station forecourt. Buses will then loop round to reach the Interchange, then resume normal route.
Towards Weston-super-Mare: buses will observe normal route into the Interchange, then at Station Road, turn at the roundabout to terminate at the stop on Station Road rather than in the Rail Station forecourt.
